On October 15, 2014, the Fair Housing Center of Southeastern Michigan received notice of a three-year grant totaling $974,832 by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to continue to fight discrimination in Southern Mid-Michigan.
The award funds will allow us to continue to provide fair housing enforcement services and systemic testing in Washtenaw, Ingham, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, and Monroe Counties, plus expand our service area to include Clinton and Eaton Counties. Our office will continue to provide investigative services, testing, advice, advocacy, conciliation, attorney referral and community education with the help of this funding and private donations via individual, professional, and business memberships.
The competitive grants were awarded to more than 100 fair housing organizations and other non-profit agencies in 43 states and the District of Columbia. Michigan groups will receive a total of $1,407,261 for Fiscal Year 2014.
