Michigan Watch, the investigative unit of Michigan Radio, is in the midst of a series on legal discrimination against the LGBT community in Michigan. Investigative reporter Lester Graham questions why it is legal to discriminate in housing and employment against LGBT persons. Mr. Graham contacted the Fair Housing Center to talk with Associate Director Kristen Cuhran about fair housing issues. The piece, “Few protections for LGBT in housing discrimination“, aired on April 30, 2013.

We encourage those who have been the victims of discrimination to contact us at 877-979-FAIR. As mentioned in this story, some forms of LGBT discrimination are also forms of discrimination based on sex that may be covered under state and federal law. Thank you to Lester Graham for shedding some much needed light on legal LGBT discrimination.
